(Potential) Upcoming TV series “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” has met with a campaign to have it banned from the UK before it has even made it to our screens due to the amount of nudity and “scenes of a sexual nature” it contains. Never mind that it is particularly gory and quite brutally violent. The fear is that children will watch the series and be corrupted by the nudity. Why that is deemed worse than kids seeing the bloody violence is a mystery to me. I suspect I know which one is more likely to give them nightmares!
Here’s a couple of screen grabs I’ve found:

Certainly looks like it has its good points! (Sorry about the censorship).

One of these photos is undoubtedly sexy and the other is undoubtedly naked (Hopefully I don’t have to explain which is which!) Why does the media think it is fine to show kids the photo on the left but think that the photo on the right is suitable only for adults?!
Which image promotes the more body positive image? Which is a natural photo? Which is a posed sexy shot? Will seeing the lady on the right corrupt children? Will the image on the right be good for young girls to see?
I fully understand why sexual nudity should be kept an adults only area, and wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment, but why is a stronger link associated between sexual nudity and plain nudity than is associated between sexual nudity and other sexual imagery? Nudity isn’t a bad thing - surely!
